Welcome to another Tavistock Festival of Music and Arts. You will see that we have planned a fabulous programme and we hope we have provided a range of events to capture the interest of all. Tuesday 3rd to Friday 21st May Art Exhibition in Tavistock Library
Tavistock Festival is partnering with Drawn to the Valley, a network of artists and makers who live and work in the Tamar Valley, to host an Art Exhibition and series of workshops in Tavistock Library.
During the 3-week exhibition, called ‘Drawn to the Library’, twelve local artists will present their original artwork in the main library and adjacent meeting rooms, that are open to the public when not in use for scheduled meetings. Entry is free and the artist’s work will be for sale.
The artists will also present a series of free art workshops, for adults, on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. Further information about the exhibition and how to book the workshops will be available in the Library and on the Drawn to the Valley website https://drawntothevalley.com

Sunday 8th May – 2.30pm Tavistock Parish Church Choral Workshop A fun and informative session for singers of all abilities Tickets £5
Run by Sean Sweeney and assisted by Scott Angell, this will be a fun event for singers of all abilities. Popular music by Mozart, Rutter and Handel will be used to explore the demands of singing in our Covid ridden world. Refreshments will be provided.

The Haizea Wind Quintet is an ensemble created within the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Most recently they have performed at various functions for the Lord Mayor in Mansion House and in Goldsmiths Hall. They also enjoy leading workshops for various musical organisations, such as Norfolk and Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians. They look forward to performing in various venues around Cornwall in May 2022.
Izzy is a second year bassoon player at Guildhall. She is one of six children and grew up in Buckinghamshire. As well as being an enthusiastic bassoonist she can also play the flute, saxophone and piano. Most recently Izzy performed Mahler 2 in the Barbican Hall with Takuo Yuasa conducting.
Benat is a third year clarinetist who grew in the Basque Country. He is fluent in three languages and is passionate about literature and Basque Culture. Benat studies with Andrew Webster, Andrew Marriner and Michael Collins and is a player in the Young Spanish Orchestra.
Before moving to London, Daisy grew up in Cambridgeshire. Currently studying with Alison Teale and Fraser MacAulay, she most recently performed with the Ubu ensemble, conducted by Simon Wills. In her spare time Daisy likes to arrange music for the Haizea Wind Quintet.
Samantha grew up in Cornwall and moved to London to study music. She regularly performs as a soprano and flautist, and is a passionate teacher for students of all ages. Samantha is taught by Sarah Newbold and Ian Clarke, and recently performed in the Last Night of the Proms at the Minack Theatre and with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Niamh grew up in Cork, Ireland. She studies with Angela Barnes, Phil Munds and Richard Bissil at Guildhall. Niamh most recently performed Alpine Symphony with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra in Cadogan Hall. Before taking up the French Horn, she was an enthusiastic violin player and still enjoys playing guitar.
