Our Venues

We are grateful to the venues who offer regular support to the Festival. Read more about the 2026 venues below.

St. Eustachius’ Parish Church

Tavistock Parish Church
5A Plymouth Rd, Tavistock PL19 8AU
The church is a popular concert venue that regularly attracts ensembles of high calibre including the Dante Quartet, the Exon Singers, the Ten Tors Orchestra, the South West Chamber Choir and the Chamber Ensemble of London.  A series of free lunchtime concerts, especially those as part of the annual Tavistock Festival, is appealing to an ever increasing audience. St Eustachius has a fine Walker pipe organ and Steinway grand piano and both are used to maximum effect to enhance worship. Tavistock’s rich musical tradition — including the organ at St Eustachius’ Church — underscores the region’s sound culture.

Tavistock Town Hall

Bedford Square, Tavistock PL19 0AE

Tavistock Town Hall, a striking Grade II-listed Gothic Revival building in Bedford Square, was designed by Edward Rundle and opened in 1864. Its Late Perpendicular Gothic style, constructed in locally quarried stone with elegant Gothic windows, crenellated parapets and an imposing presence, gives the hall a dramatic, almost ecclesiastical character that enhances musical events. Inside, the spacious main hall features a high oak-beamed ceiling, richly wood-panelled walls, a minstrels’ gallery and a polished maple floor, creating an atmosphere both historic and acoustically favourable for sound projection.

The hall’s high ceilings, reverberant volumes and flexible stage make it particularly suitable for choral performances and concerts, as sound carries beautifully and audiences can be arranged to appreciate both vocal and instrumental nuance.

The Bedford Hotel

1 Plymouth Road, Tavistock PL19 8BB

The Bedford Hotel in Tavistock is a Grade II-listed historic building rooted in early 18th-century origins and remodelled in the early 19th century as part of the Dukes of Bedford’s transformation of the town centre. Its stone ashlar façade with castellated parapets and mullioned windows reflects the heritage and continuity of Tavistock’s architectural narrative, combining Georgian proportions with subtle historicist detail drawn from nearby abbey remains.

Today the hotel seamlessly blends this heritage with contemporary purpose. Its Gallery 26 function suite, with floor-to-ceiling windows and natural light flooding in, offers an inspiring, adaptable space for art exhibitions, receptions, workshops and community showcases. The contrast between historic stone walls and bright gallery lighting makes it particularly suitable for displaying artwork and creative installations. Meanwhile, other elegant rooms like the oak-panelled Portrait Room provide atmospheric settings for smaller displays, talks and cultural gatherings, enriching Tavistock’s vibrant arts scene.
